September LWD

Hi Ladies Who Dine,

Last night was a success! We missed our med students! Happy studying ladies, you can do it.

We started off the night with two amazing salads (thanks Irene and Moe). Irene made a pear, walnut, goat cheese salad. The salad was very savory and sweet! The pears were from a Linvilla orchard, very locally food conscious.  Moe made a quinoa, arugula, almonds, peaches, and some yummy dressing. I had never enjoyed quinoa so much. The arugula and quinoa made a great texture together.

Then we had garlic asiago cheese bread with pumpkin black bean soup. I also added a dollop of pumpkin butter and greek yogurt to garnish. I got the recipe from SmittenKitchen which is probably my favorite food blog. It was much easier to make than I expected.  You can click here for the recipe.  We finished our meal with hot apple fancy apple cider/juice from Ashbobash and lemon verbena infused bread pudding with a side of homemade vanilla bean whip cream from Sophie. (the pictures really don't do the night justice)

We talked of starting some sort of way to document our Ladies Who Dine moments, which I think we should. I am fairly confident that if we continue to document our events we will end up in the new york times.  I may start a blog if others are interested and then the host of each dinner can write a description of the food and post pictures. I did a awful job of taking pictures but we can do better next time.

The next ladies who dine will be held at Irene's west philly hizzouse on Friday October 28th @8pm. Irene will send out the details but I think it may be Halloween themed. There was also talk of setting up a LWD tea at Dandelion this coming fall too.  We should pick a date!!
